Arab physician Avicenna, “prince among physicians,” was teaching clay therapy to thousands of his students.

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe Vera is so very hydrating and soothing, and feels amazing in a face mask. There are lots of aloe varieties, but only one genuine aloe vera. It’s one of the world’s oldest natural medicinal plants, and probably one of the best known too by now. Aloe vera looks like a cactus, but is actually part of the lily family and is sometimes called the Desert Lily. It probably originated on the Arabian Peninsula, but is now at home in the Mediterranean region, India and Mexico too.

On top of the hydrating properties, aloe vera also contains simple and complex sugars that are antiinflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antimycotic, in the same way as coconut oil. Aloe vera also contains 7 of the 8 essential amino acids we need to ingest or apply because our body cannot produce them itself. It also contains valin (good for the nerves), leucin (builds muscle, strengthens the immune system) and lysin (accelerates collagen formation; collagen makes our skin supple and slows the ageing process). The gel also protects cells from free radicals (little attackers from the environment) and soothes the symptoms of wounds, burns stings and skin conditions.

White Kaolin Clay

A naturally occurring clay mineral, kaolin is known for its absorbent, detoxifying and soothing effects, which make it particularly useful in skin masks – although it also used in products like cleansers, powders and soaps. It is a gentle clay, with less liquid absorbing abilities than most. This makes it suitable for more sensitive and dry skin types.

Kaolin helps to cleanse and exfoliate dry cells and debris from the surface of the skin, blends beautifully with fresh ingredients or essential oils and acts like a natural preservative. Regular use also has anti-aging properties, stimulating skin firmness and reducing inflammation. The colour is related to its composition, namely the high concentration of aluminium and calcium silicates.

French Green Clay

This clay comes from France and is known for its terrific oil absorbing properties. It has a fine texture and is commonly used for color and and oil absorption in facial masks. The colour of green clay comes from a combination of plant particles (mostly algae) and iron oxides. It has been used since ancient times to treat a large number of skin problems and digestive issues. It has great detoxifying properties, due to its high absorptive capacity. Suitable for oily skin types.

With time, toxins begin to deposit inside our body. Because of the air we breathe, because of the water we drink, because of pesticides contained in our food. Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is suitable for treating acne. It reduces redness, helps to heal and prevent acne scars, is anti-inflammatory, and is antibacterial.

In magic, lavender is associated with the planet Mercury and the element of Air and the Gods associated with it are: Mercury-Hermes and Hecate. Lavender is regarded as an aphrodisiac with magical powers.

Lavender resonates with the crown chakra. The gentleness of lavender encourages compassion while helping to soothe deep sadness. Lavender conjures feelings of balance and emotional well being.

Lavender Flowers

Lavender is traditionally alleged to have a variety of therapeutic and curative properties, ranging from inducing relaxation to treating parasitic infections, burns, insect bites, and spasm. There is growing evidence suggesting that lavender oil may be an effective medicament in treatment of several neurological disorders. Several animal and human investigations suggest anxiolytic, mood stabilizer, sedative, analgesic, and anticonvulsive and neuroprotective properties for lavender.

The word comes from the Latin root lavare which means ‘to wash’ as the Romans used it to scent their bath water. Lavender is one of the most popular scents you can find and it’s used in tons of stuff, especially bath products. The oil is extracted from the fresh flowers of the lavender plant.

St. John’s wort – Hypericum perforatum L. (Hypericaceae)

St. John’s Wort, is a well-known medicinal herb often associated with the treatment of anxiety and depression. Additionally, an oil macerate (Oleum Hyperici) of its flowering aerial parts is widely used in traditional medicine across the Balkans as a topical wound and ulcer salve. Other studies have shown that Oleum Hyperici reduces both wound size and healing time.

St. John’s wort corresponds to Fire and the Sun. Magically speaking one of the most interesting magical property of Saint John’s wort is it’s power over the element of Fire. Since the ancient times this herb was used against wounds made by swords. The dried herb or the infused oil was put on wounds. This medical practice was so common that the herb was named Sword-herb.

Geogard 221 Natural Preservative

NCI: Benzyl Alcohol (and) Dehydroacetic Acid
(Meets Ecocert and COSMOS standards, NaTrue Certified and Soil Association approved)

An Ecocert approved, multi-use, broad spectrum preservative system that is a synergistic blend of an organic acid and alcohol that can be added at room and elevated temperatures. Dehydroacetic Acid and Benzyl Alcohol are both organic compounds which are accepted for use in natural cosmetics, offering a broad spectrum of stability at a wide range of pH. The organic preservative compound is a non-paraben, non-formaldehyde, non isothiazolone based preservative system.

How to use:

Apply with fingertip thick layer by dabbing over the face. Avoid the eyes. Cover properly the face with relativity thin layer. The mask should quickly start to dry and absorb deeply into the skin pores. Allow the mask to fully absorb. Some itchiness might occur, while the mask is tightening. This is normal. After 15 minutes, gently exfoliated under warm water and massage the lavender buds into the skin. There should be glowing, tight after effect with little redness for more sensitive or dry skin complexions. Apply nourishing after cream.

Although there is natural preservative, preferably store refrigerated. Also the feeling of cooling Aloe Gel Clay is wonderful on tires skin.
