ROSE PLANT: Rose of Jericho (Anastatica hierochuntica), Mexico. Rose of Jericho, also called resurrection plant, either of two species of unrelated plants known for their ability to survive desiccation. The true rose of Jericho (Anastatica hierochuntica) is native to western Asia and is the only species of the genus Anastatica of the mustard family (Brassicaceae). This is the less expensive (Selaginella lepidophylla) version of the plant.

JERICHO ROSE TIPS: Change the water every 3-4 days or at least once a week. You can add a few 2-3 drops of essential oils to the water to prevent mold from infesting the plant. Favourites are lemon, lavender, rosemary or tea tree. You can submerge the plant entirely in wate or only the roots to get wet. It depends on the size and width of your container. To grow a rose from Jericho indoors, you need to follow these steps:

1. Prepare a shallow pan and pour warm, settled water into it.
2. Take a dried ball and place it roots down on a tray.
3. As soon as the flower opens and green shoots start to appear from the core, you should plant it in a pot full of soil.

You can grow this amazing flower in any containers as well as in containers. Beginner florists often ask themselves, growing a Jericho rose, how to care for it at home. As practice shows, the process does not create any difficulties, as the flower is completely unpretentious. The most optimal temperature for the plant is 20 ° C. In this case, the flower should be placed in a slightly shaded place. When exposed to direct sunlight, the rose burns and turns pale. Experienced growers are advised to feed the flower every month. Nitrogen fertilizers are suitable for this. Many families will carefully keep the plant and pass it from generation to generation.

“Sometimes all you need is a little water.”

RITUAL TIPS: In religious practices, holy water can be substituted with the water of Jericho. Also your Rose of Jericho might ask for offerings and when it does, ensure to offer something nice. After putting the Rose of Jericho into the bowl of water, ensure to replace the water after some days and Sundays are best for this. Keep the water fresh because dirty water could hurt your plant. The best days to awaken your Rose of Jericho are on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 A.M or 3 P.M respectively but if you are led to awaken it at a different time, just do it.

Add coins for prosperity on your Offering Hands tray. Add Love Oil by rubbing it on the hands and egg shell for attracting potent love and fertility. For protection use Holy Anointing Oil and create protection pentagram while fumigating the house.

STORAGE BOX: Bamboo Wood with size 19 x 19 x 9 cm. The whole package weights about 0,999 kg.

KEY INGREDIENTS:

♦ Beeswax: Bees collect nectar and pollen to make honey to feed the hive. As they eat honey, their bodies make wax. Chewing this wax with a little more honey, the bees build combs. When the time is just right, beekeepers open these “honey pantries” to collect the extra honey and humans collect combs to make pure beeswax candles. The exact process of how a bee transfers the wax scales from its abdomen to its mandibles was a mystery for years. It’s now understood to be processed in either of two ways. Most of the activities in the hive are cooperative so it should be no surprise that other worker bees are willing to remove the wax scales from their neighbors and then chew them. The other method is for the same bee extruding the wax to process her own wax scales. This is done using one hind leg to move a wax scale to the first pair of legs (forelegs). A foreleg then makes the final transfer to the mandibles where it is masticated, and then applied to the comb being constructed or repaired.

A honeycomb constructed from beeswax is a triumph of engineering. It consists of hexagon shaped cylinders (six-sided) that fit naturally side-by-side. It has been proven that making the cells into hexagons is the most efficient shape for using the smallest possible amount of wax to contain the highest volume of honey. It has also been shown to be one of the strongest possible shapes while using the least amount of material.

The color of beeswax comprising a comb is at first white and then darkens with age and use. This is especially true if it is used to raise brood. Pigmentation in the wax can result in colors ranging from white, through shades of yellow, orange, red, and darker all the way to brownish black. The color has no significance as to the quality of the wax (other than its aesthetic appeal).

♦ Jericho Rose is a mysterious and amazing flower. The peculiarity is that it can stay alive without water for up to a hundred years. When the moisture does not come for a long time, it shrinks into a ball and hides the fruit inside. Such glomeruli become habitat travelers until the rain catches up with them. When moisture enters, the plant comes to life. After straightening the seeds are poured from the middle of the flower, giving life to new plants. It is believed that this plant scares moths when placed inside the cabinet. Among other things, the flower has a disinfectant, purifying the air of harmful microorganisms.

The Jericho rose belongs to the Cabbage family. These herbaceous perennials are small in size. They grow to a length of no more than 15 cm. The rose has small gray leaves. The flowers are snow white. In the desert, the flower grows early, blooms quickly and bears fruit. As soon as the drought begins, the short stems dry out and bend inwards. In strong gusts of wind, the upper part of the flower breaks off and moves freely on the sand. In natural conditions, the flower can be found in Central and Western Asia. The flower usually grows on dry land or rocks. Under such growing conditions, many plants simply die and the Jericho rose not only survives, but also manages to grow and develop further.

The rose of Jericho, also known as the hand of Fatma or the ball of the hand of Mary, was made famous in Europe by the Crusaders. The valuable plants were passed on in the families and blossomed at Easter and Christmas. It is considered a lucky charm in this country and was given the nickname resurrection plant. The Rose of Jericho is also considered the keeper of childbirth – because of the rose’s own ‘birth mode’ of hurling the fruit out. The Rose of Jericho is a moss fern called Selaginella Lepidophylla. It grows in the deserts or desert-like landscapes of North and Central America. Locally it is probably also called ‘flower of stone’ or ‘Siempre Viva’. The Selaginella Lepidophylla survives long periods of drought by curling up the stems and leaves. By curling up, the plant protects its growing point. However, it remains rooted and is not blown around like the Anastatica hierochunta. She’s not dead even when curled up, just in a kind of stasis. When it rains, it unrolls and turns green. The Rose of Jericho doesn’t live forever and after the rain they definitely need dirt or similar substrate. The Rose of Jericho is able to survive up to 33 months of drought alive, but only with roots in the ground.

♦ Tree Magi Holy Incense: Frankincense may not be around much longer, warns a study published in Nature Sustainability. Therefore this high quality resin mixture is very precious gift from Mother Nature that requires special honoring. Along with their sacred virtues, each of the tree saps, Myrrh, Frankincense and Gold have an esoteric symbolism. Myrrh being associated with the dead, and with incorruptible flesh. Frankincense with purification, consecration, sacrifice, and prayer. And Gold with love and prosperity.

Gifts of the Magi incense is well suited to any ritual works, particularly those of consecration, blessing, adoration, offering, and prayer. Additionally, under the patronage of the Magi it is an appropriate suffumigant for works of spiritual devotion, necromancy, exorcism, safe travel, dream magic and divination. Additionally, the resins and gold may be added as is to charms designed for safe travel, divination, dream magic, or hung near the threshold for the protection of the home.

Symbolism and beliefs associated with Rose of Jericho

There are several versions of the history of the origin of this flower. Some claim that the rose was first discovered by Mary, who followed in Egypt. It was from her that the flower received the blessing of immortality and as a result of the events began to be called “Mary’s hand”. Others claim that the name of the flower was given by the monk Sava, who lived in the Judean desert.

The Jericho rose is a perennial plant, so some people use it as a symbol of a genus inherited from one member to another. In many nations, the flower is given as a reminder that after death comes the resurrection of the soul on the day of the Lord’s Resurrection. It remains a mystery how the plant can be lifeless, and then, when it interacts with water, to revive and bloom so quickly.

The herb of life Selaginella

Apart from the legends of happiness that the plant brings with it, the Rose of Jericho is also a medicinal herb suitable for colds. Used in the form of tea or tincture. The Latin name of the plant is Selaginella lepidophylla and both the dried and green parts of the plant can be used.

Hexagonal Shape Honeycomb

In sacred geometry and ancient sagas the hexagon represents the potential for life. It is found in sacred shapes like the Flower of Life, which is seen in ancient architecture around the world. The Star of David, also known as the Seal of Solomon, is believed to be one of the oldest symbols ever used and existed long before it was incorporated into the philosophies of Judaism. The hexagon is formed by the interlocking of two triangles – the upward-pointing triangle representing positive/male energy, and the downward-facing triangle representing negative/female energy. This holy union is the expression of energetic charges; the positive and negative charges in electromagnetic energy and atoms; protons and electrons.

For instance, the atom is made from positive particles known as protons (male energy) and negative particles known as electrons (female energy). Atoms have an equal number of electrons as there are protons in order to find stability and balance.

The honey of the hexagon is revealed when you explore the esoteric meaning of the hexagon from the perspective of psychology. This is when you can use symbols as a tool to guide you through life. When you balance emotional intelligence with reason, you evoke the forces governed by the universal laws of nature. Channel your energies and you become the creator of the reality you imagine yourself to be.

When hexagons reveal themselves to you, it’s a sign to take notice of unconscious content awakening in your conscious mind. This wisdom is revealed in the triangles that come together to create the Star of David. We are told that the two connecting triangles are the union of male (upward-facing triangle) and female (the downward-facing triangle). The esoteric meaning lying veiled beneath this explanation relates to the wisdom of the unconscious penetrating the conscious mind; the emergence of waking consciousness you were previously unaware of.

“The number 6 is most skilled in begetting, for it is even and uneven, partaking both of the active nature on account of the uneven, and of the hylical nature on account of the even, for which reason the ancients also named it marriage imd harmony … And they say also that it is both male and female … And another says that the number six is soul-producing because it multiplies itself into the world-sphere, and because in it the opposites are mingled.” ~ Carl Jung, The Practice of Psychology, CW 16. par 451

The “Alchemical Marriage” symbolically describes how thoughts program your subconscious. It’s common knowledge today that the subconscious responds to the power of your thoughts. In mythology, fatherly, male characters symbolically represent the mind. Mothers and other female characters or symbols relate to the unconscious.

From an esoteric viewpoint, the upward facing triangle is the active power, or seed of man; logical thinking, analytical thought, reasoning courage and willpower. It is your thoughts – the seeds – that “impregnate” your subconscious mind; the feminine. You may have read that the downward facing triangle is “passive energy,” “the receptive element”, or :womb of the feminine”. Now you know the down-facing triangle represents the subconscious, you can see what the esoteric meaning of the hexagon is. It makes much more sense than the misleading fragments offered by other sources doesn’t it!

The number six is commonly known as a number of the weak-willed. The infamous 666 is assigned as the ‘number of the beast’ to represent individuals that are controlled by their animal nature in body, mind and spirit (conscious mind, personal unconscious and superconscious). A weakness of man is the inability to overcome temptations. Cravings are the basic instincts of your lower conscious nature. When the mind is unable to overcome urges that rush out from the subconscious, you are bound to the material world.

“The more concentrated it is, the more power is brought to bear on one point, and that is the secret.” ~ Swami Vivekananda

Hagal Rune

The crudest and most beautiful depiction of a hexagon is the six-pointed star. In its most striking form is the crystallisation of water which is demonstrated in an experiment conducted by Dr. Masaru Emoto. In its most crude form is the Hagal Rune devised by the ancient tribes of northern Europe. This ancient symbol bears a striking resemblance to the image of the water crystals. It should come as no surprise the ancients got the idea for the Rune from nature. The Hagal Rune also appears like a conceptual star. The scientific community believe many of the elements found on Earth were originally formed in stars and released as the stars burnt out and died.

We find the same pattern used by the Nordic tribes of northern Europe buried in the flower of life. In the Kabbalah, it is called the ‘fruit of life.’ The fruit of life is the germination of consciousness emerging in the conscious mind. This is the point in your personal development when you have a platform to transform your inner wisdom into the outer world and subsequently change the way you experience life.

Mary Magdalene

The earliest materials that refer to Mary Magdalene appear from two very different sources: the canonical Gospels of the New Testament, and a group of fringe materials that have come to be known as the Gnostic gospels, which were rejected by the Roman Catholic Church.
The story of the suppression of these alternative gospels reads like an adventure novel—book burnings, secret meetings of small sects found out by the authorities, exiles, executions, and so forth. Ironically, the greatest suppression of early Christian literature began when Constantine became emperor of Rome and declared Christianity the religion of the entire Roman Empire (leading to a process of conversion that occurred over a number of years, from his initial victory in 312 C.E. to the final defeat of his rivals in 324). In 325, Constantine convened the Council of Nicaea where it was decided which texts would become the standards of the Church—those that we now know as the canonical Gospels—and which would be suppressed. Those not chosen as standard were attacked—sometimes violently—for many years. Indeed, the bishops at the Council of Nicaea who disagreed with Constantine’s choices were exiled on the spot.²

The suppression, however, was not completely successful. Some texts survived, passed on since ancient times. Many scraps and fragments turned up in a variety of places over the years, though hardly a significant number. But in 1945 the story took a completely different turn when a stash of alternative texts was found in a large clay jar in the desert at Nag Hammadi, near Phou, Egypt. The account of how these documents traveled from the nomadic tribesmen who discovered them, through the black markets—one of the papyrus books from the jar even found its way into the possession of the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung—and eventually back to Cairo makes a true adventure tale.³ The contents of this jar, along with other scraps or fragments from around the same time period, have become known as the Gnostic gospels, because of the association of many of them with the belief system of a group who called themselves Gnostics, from the Greek word gnosis, meaning “inner knowing,” “self-acquaintance,” or “self-knowledge.” Amidst the often very strange cosmology of the Gnostic sects, there can be found what has come to be known as gnosticism, the belief that spiritual development and salvation are achieved through inner knowing. Recent writers have seized on the modern aspects of these texts, finding in them leading-edge thinking about intuition and consciousness. In reality, while the Gospel of Thomas (one of those discovered at Nag Hammadi) and the Gospel of Mary Magdalene are often considered Gnostic texts, and while they do share the same emphasis on inner knowing, they do not share the elaborate cosmology of the treatises from the Gnostic sects.

There were three who always walked with the Lord.
Mary, his mother; Mary, her sister;
And Miriam of Magdala, who was called his companion;
For Miriam is his sister, his mother, and his companion.

The Three Magi

Since the early days of Christianity, Biblical scholars and theologians have offered varying interpretations of the meaning and significance of the gold, frankincense, and myrrh that the magi presented to Jesus, according to the Gospel of Matthew (2:11).

Our Three Magi collection in the Biblical Archaeology Society Library reveals different interpretations of the “three wise men,” as they are most commonly known, and why they brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh to Jesus.

Tradition: These valuable items were standard gifts to honor a king or deity in the ancient world: gold as a precious metal, frankincense as perfume or incense, and myrrh as anointing oil.
Symbolism: In the well-known Christmas carol “We Three Kings,” the three gifts were chosen for their special spiritual symbolism about Jesus himself—gold representing his kingship, frankincense a symbol of his priestly role, and myrrh a prefiguring of his death and embalming.
Medicine: Researchers at Cardiff University have demonstrated that frankincense has an active ingredient that can help relieve arthritis by inhibiting the inflammation that breaks down cartilage tissue and causes arthritis pain.
