KEY INGREDIENTS:
♦ HAWAIIAN READ SALT is an unrefined sea salt that has been mixed with an iron oxide rich volcanic clay called ʻalaea, which gives the seasoning its characteristic brick red color. It is traditionally used by Hawaiians to cleanse, purify and bless tools, canoes, homes and temples. In combination with roses and rose oil clears one’s heart of past pain and sorrow.
♦ SODIUM BICARBONATE aka Baking soda is a common household product that acts as natural alkalizer and detoxifier. A spiritual cleansing bath with baking soda neutralizes your aura.
♦ SPIRULINA was a food source for the Aztecs and other Mesoamericans until the 16th century; the harvest from Lake Texcoco in Mexico and subsequent sale as cakes were described by one of Cortés’ soldiers. The Aztecs called it tecuitlatl. It contains loads of minerals, proteins, vitamins and fatty acids.
♦ COCONUT MILK POWDER is perfect addition to any heavy salt bath soak. Deeply hydrating organic coconut milk is the basis of indulgent bath soak. Leaves skin feeling moisturized and soft.
♦ VIOLETS in Roman myth, the first violet sprung from the spilled blood of the god Attis, who killed himself for Cybele, the mother goddess. In other legends, Jupiter changed his lover, Io, into a heifer to protect him from the jealous rages of Juno – and violets sprouted up in the field so Io would have something to eat. It is believed that the word violet is actually a diminutive of Viola, which is the Latinized variant of Io. Despite its legends connecting it to rather violet and jealous gods, today the violet is associated with tranquility and peace. The leaf offers protection from evil, and can be sewn into a pillow or sachet for a new baby. Carry the petals with you to bring about luck and enhance nighttime magic.
♦ CRETAN ROSE – the tea made from the hips of this rose is very popular in Europe and elsewhere, where it is considered a healthy way for people to get their daily dose of vitamin C and other nutrients. A cup of rose hip tea will provide the minimum daily adult requirement of vitamin C. During World War II the British relied on rose hips and hops as the sources for their vitamins A and C. It was a common British wartime expression to say that: “We are getting by on our hips and hops.
♦ TUBEROSE is usually found as an absolute. The difference in essential oils and absolutes, in simple terms, is that the oils are typically extracted through the process of steam distillation. The tuberose is native to Central America and Mexico. Tuberose smells like a very intense flower with hints of spice and mint.
